commUnityoga is a mindful flow studio. The studio is heated to a comfortable summer-like temperature. Practicing in this way allows the muscles to relax and respond more easefully. Mindful flow is yoga with awareness; focusing on alignment while the breath guides the poses in a gentle flow. The purpose of yoga is to explore your limitations while honoring your body. There is no encouragement to push, muscle or fight your way into poses. Rather, the encouragement lies in exploring your own edge as you grow your practice and strengthen your body. All classes are accessible to everyone, regardless of your flexibility or level of fitness. Yoga is an amazing form of exercise that helps strengthen, stretch and de-stress the body and calm the mind. Whether this is your first yoga class or you have been practicing for years, you will be challenged, supported and most importantly reminded to bring your attention to your body and your breath.
commUnityoga is a
donation-based
studio with the unique goal of recapturing what is considered to be the
essence of yoga…service.
In a time when yoga as a
business is growing, the fact that it is being priced out of many
people’s reach is in direct conflict with what is considered
the spirit of yoga.
The question this studio
seeks to answer is: Can a yoga studio maintain itself as a
business while keeping the focus of its intention on providing yoga as
a service?
What does
“donation-based” mean and how does it work?
According to yogic tradition a student should never have to pay to be
instructed, however, the student should never ask to be instructed
without first offering a gift. In following with this tradition
commUnityoga is a donation-based studio.
There is a suggested donation of $10 a class.
A suggested donation means that if you can put $10 in the box, please
do. If you are not in a position to do so, contribute what you can.
Nobody will be keeping track of individual donations. The $10
dollar donation is not meant as a bottom or a top limit… if
you are in a position to donate more, it will be greatly appreciated.
To donate is the sacred act of giving, the amount is not meant as a
measure of character, for it’s the practice of donation that
lies in the heart of community.
